Carolina Beach fishing with Capt. Bald Head Island fishing with Capt. Mike Dennis this Island is one of the few places left where marshes are plentiful and laurel oaks and sabal palms grow wild, the creeks running behind Baldhead Island hold red drum and speckled trout and are as peaceful as nature gets. The Cape Fear River running beside Bald Head makes it one of the first places to start to fish in the spring with a run of whiting. Southport fishing with Capt. Ar-420 Tom McGlammerry Reef along with Ar-425 Yaupon Beach Reef is well known for producing fish through out the season. Cape Fear River fishing with Capt. Mike Dennis, this river holds a number of different fish from striped bass, which are caught trolling and casting in the upper Cape Fear towards downtown Wilmington. Speckled trout and redfish which are caught along the spoil islands through out the Cape Fear River along with black drum along the rocky areas in the Cape Fear. Flounder fishing around the power line structures always seems to produce a few fish with the larger fish coming from points along the islands in the Cape Fear River. Fishing around the Archer – Daniels Pfizer docks has produced a North Carolina state record Black Drum 100.1 pounds caught by Charles R. Dycus.
